1 cup raw almonds. Not from a bin in a grocery store, or from a heated showcase. Only from tightly sealed bags. Never roasted.
3 cups water
1/2 fresh papaya (for digestive enzymes)
1 teaspoon blackstrap molasses (for trace minerals)
1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract (optional)
1 Tablespoon brewer's yeast
In a grinder, food processor, or blender, grind the nuts into a powder. Gradually add the water and other ingredients while continuing to blend.
Store in fridge. (I always had to freeze some because I would make a double batch at a time. Might as well make 2 batches so you can use up a whole papaya)
Almonds: Almonds are called the king of nuts because they are high in calcium, potassium, magnesium, phosphorus, folic acid, and protein. They are higher in calcium and fiber than any other nut. Almond oil is good for the skin and almond butter is nutritious. At one time, cancer clinics around the world were using laetrile, a compound derived from the phytochemical amygdalin, found in apricot pits and raw bitter almonds to treat cancer. Laetrile was thought to be an anticancer agent, but research has never successfully proven its value, and bitter almonds are not generally available. However, phytochemicals in almonds have been shown to inhibit the growth of lung, prostate, and breast tumors. Many clinics still recommend eating a handful of raw almonds daily, chewing them thoroughly until they are almost liquid. Key nutriends in almonds include protein, fiber, calcium, iron, magnesium, phosphorus, potassium, sodium, zinc, copper, manganese, selenium, vitamin C, vitamin B1, vitamin B2, Vitamin B3, pantothenic acid, vitamin B6, folate, and vitamin E. Almonds are high in monounsaturated fatty acids and contain essential amino acids. Phytochemicals include quercetin, kaempferol, alpha-tocopherol, gamma-tocopherol, glutamic acid, myristic acid, phytosterols, and serine. Selenium is a vital mineral lacking in most U.S. soils and therefore in most food grown in this country.
**Note: My son was on this for 6 months and did fine. However, my pediatrician told me the only thing it lacked which made her nervous was vitamin K. So I put a little alfalfa juice powder in the mix, which is loaded with vitamin K, and also one of the most perfect food sources on earth. Once I did that, my pediatrician told me it was an excellent whole, living food for him.
